The Bishop Museum and Historical Society, a non-profit 501
(c) (3) corporation, was formed in 1964 to foster and cultivate the development
and progress of an educational and scientific museum and historical society on
the grounds of the Southern Pacific Railroad site donated to Inyo County. At
Laws the Slim Princess now stands in mute testimony to the time when the Owens
Valley depended upon the railroad for its contact with other parts of the world. The Bishop Museum and Historical Society depends on memberships for the bulk of its financial support, and needs that help to grow and expand, and develop and maintain the museum complex. At present we have openings on three Standing Committees for one year terms. the museum has an opening for one member at large on the Budget and Finance Committee, one member at large on the Membership Committee, and two members at large on the Publicity Committee. If you are a member in good standing and are interested in serving on one of those committees, contact Barbara Moss, Museum Administrator, at (760) 873-5950, or by E-mail at lawsmuseum@aol.com. We welcome your participation and help as a supporting member.
